It's been two weeks since Marc Jacobs announced that he was folding Marc by Marc Jacobs into his regular line. Shortly after hiring Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley as lead designers. There has been a lot of speculation as to the careers of the two designers since the announcement.
So its just been announced that Hillier and Bartley will set up their own line - Hillier Bartley - which fills my tiny heart with joy. I used to love Bartley when she had her own line years ago. Hurrah!
It is interesting that this has either been the plan all along OR both of them knew about Marc Jacobs because they presented their fall collection to buyers last month in Paris. The line will concentrate on RTW, accessories and bags. Production will be kept to the UK apart from the bags being manufactured in Italy. Apparently the first line is ready for stores in August.
It's been described as, "classic English references and has a masculine elegance, which utilises Savile Row cloth, velvet, silk, merino wool and shearling across tailoring, dresses and separates." Interesting. I loved their collection for Marc Jacobs as well. This could be one to watch
